Lock stock and two smoking barrels trailer analysis

The music in this trailer is non digetic music running throughout the trailer, with the consistency of 4 different songs:
  • At the start the music is slow, whilst the protagonists are being introduced. The music is relaxed this shows that they are normal and there nothing to worry about.
  • Then the music changes and speeds up as we get to the card game, this highlights the importance of this game as well as when a card is being placed on table there are exaggerated sounds.
  • The music than changes to high pitch to show that something bad is happening
  • Then is changes to a happy fast song, this suggest their ‘happy’ mood of them gaining loads of money, then music changes to fast pace as we see action shots of the violent scenes.
  • Lastly party music to suggest some sort of success
The generic convention of this trailer includes; drugs, money, alcohol, suits, women, guns and cars. This trailer is also consistent of many action shots.

The institution of this trailer is SKA Films, they are well known for their British gangster films . Lock stock won a British independent film award and being nominated for a BAFTA.
